On Earth Day, April 22, Take Care of Texas is offering  “Take Six for Texas,” a bundle of six yard care guides that not only help you maintain a healthy yard, but save you money and time, while protecting Texas’ environment.

“Lawn and garden watering make up nearly 40 percent of total household water use during the summer, and yard trimmings make up over 20 percent of the annual waste generated,” said TCEQ Commissioner Zak Covar. “Using the tips in these guides can make a huge impact.”

“Texans should do their part for the environment every day, and Earth Day is a great opportunity to remind folks there are many ways to conserve water, reduce waste, and keep the air clean while maintaining their yard,” said TCEQ Chairman Brian Shaw.

“Getting involved in the Take Care of Texas campaign reminds us that change can start with one individual,” said TCEQ Commissioner Toby Baker. “We encourage every Texan to visit TakeCareOfTexas.org and pledge to do their part. To say thank you, we’ll mail you a free Texas State Parks Guide.”

Go to the Take Care of Texas publications page to view and download the “Take Six for Texas” publications:

Interested Texans can also receive free printed copies of all six publications by sending an e-mail to educate@tceq.texas.gov that includes their name and street mailing address, and put “Take Six for Texas” in the subject line.

Take Care of Texas is a statewide campaign from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality that provides helpful information on Texas' successes in environmental protection and encourages all Texans to help keep our air and water clean, conserve water and energy, and reduce waste.
