Stella’s video qualified as an Honorable Mention in the 9th through 12th grade age bracket of the Take Care of Texas Video Contest this season.
Many Texas students worked hard to produce creative videos for the contest. The videos covered a range of topics such as tips to save energy, ways to save water, the importance of clean air and water, recycling and reducing trash, and more!
The contest runs in the fall each year. You can learn more about our annual 6th-12th grade video contest on our Video Contest webpage.
Stella’s video follows a girl waking from a nightmare and then going about her day while being haunted by the Spirit of Texas! Tossing and turning, the girl wakes from a litter-filled nightmare to take her dog on a morning walk. She bags the dog waste and tosses it aside, but is soon commanded by the Spirit of Texas to pick it up. She quickly picks up the waste only to incorrectly dispose of the waste bag in the recycling. The spirit again corrects her to dispose of it in the trash can instead. The spirit comes in later while the girl is distracted on her phone and not watching TV, and commands her to conserve electricity by turning the TV off. Stella’s creative use of a costume and her overall message do a great job showing how to conserve around the house.
